Job summary

Cornerstone Preparatory Academy in Panama City, Florida, seeks an Elementary School Teacher for a full-time, 10-month exempt position. Work hours are 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM daily, 196 days, with occasional training days provided in advance.

Responsibilities include planning and delivering lessons aligned to FL DOE standards, monitoring student progress with data, managing the classroom, and communicating with families.

Qualifications

  • Active Florida Temporary or Professional Certification (PK-3rd or K-6th)
  • Minimum 3 years of prior teaching experience
  • Level 2 fingerprint/background check required
  • Completion of all ongoing State of Florida required training for ESOL, Reading, and/or Special Education, as appropriate for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials.
  • Instruct and monitor students using learning materials and equipment; manage classroom behavior.
  • Provide timely feedback on student work and monitor progress with data to adjust instruction.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance; assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in education or teaching field; or Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and passing score on subject area exam

Job description

This is a professional position for an Elementary School Teacher. Full-Time, 10-month, Exempt. Work Schedule: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM daily, 196 days, plus occasional training days provided in advance.

Specific tasks required of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

Instruction and Progress Monitoring
  • -Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning
  • -Develop activities, lesson plans, and assessments that are in accordance with established procedures, and in alignment with FL DOE content and grade-level standards
  • -Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • -Use relevant but limited technology to support instruction
  • -Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing Cornerstone Preparatory Academy rules and procedures
  • -Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of Cornerstone Preparatory Academy
  • -Provide appropriate and timely feedback on student work
  • -Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use appropriate data to adjust instruction
  • -Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records of students’ progress and development
  • -Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies, and school regulations
  • -Prepare required reports on students and activities
  • -Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings
  • -Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and student needs
  • -Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
  • -Prepare classroom for class activities according to Cornerstone Preparatory Academy best practices
  • -Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development
  • -Assign and grade classwork, homework, tests, and assignments in a timely manner
Professional Development
  • -Attend and participate in all professional development activities
  • -Maintain personal professional development records regarding certification

Overtime Eligibility

This job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Cornerstone Preparatory Academy's Instructional Evaluation Rubric.

Requirements

Active Florida Temporary or Professional Certification in one of the following areas:

PK-3rd

K-6th

Classical Teaching

Minimum 3 years' of prior teaching experience

Level 2 fingerprint/background check will be required

Enthusiasm for students, learning, and a passion to foster a safe, caring, and supportive classroom environment for all students.

Willingness to deliver high-quality classical instruction, and participate in a collaborative professional learning environment.

Completion of all ongoing State of Florida required training for ESOL, Reading, and/or Special Education, for classroom teachers, as appropriate for the position.
