Overview
Blessed Sacrament Catholic Academy is seeking to fill a Grade 3 teaching vacancy.
The ideal candidate is a dedicated, reflective educator who is committed to academic excellence, faith formation, and the holistic development of each child. This teacher will plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction while fostering a structured, nurturing, and faith-centered classroom environment.
Instructional Responsibilities
- Plan and execute high-quality lessons across subject areas using the Gradual Release of Responsibility model (I Do, We Do, You Do).
- Deliver rigorous, student-centered instruction aligned to applicable standards and grade-level expectations.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, social, and developmental needs of all learners.
- Integrate instructional technology effectively to enhance learning and student engagement.
- Develop students\' core academic skills, including literacy (reading, writing, speaking, and listening), numeracy, and habits of study appropriate to the grade level.
- Assess student learning using formal and informal measures, provide timely and meaningful feedback, and adjust instruction based on data and student needs.
Classroom Culture & Management
- Establish and maintain strong classroom management rooted in consistency, clear expectations, and mutual respect.
- Create a positive, faith-centered classroom culture that supports student growth, responsibility, and character development.
- Serve as a homeroom teacher (as assigned), including leading daily prayer, taking attendance, managing classroom routines, and building a strong sense of community.
Family & Community Engagement
- Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding classroom expectations, student progress, and partnership opportunities.
- Foster collaborative relationships with families in support of student success and school initiatives.
Professional Collaboration
- Collaborate with colleagues and administration to strengthen curriculum, align instructional practices, and support student needs.
- Contribute actively to school-wide initiatives, events, and the broader life of the school community.
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional growth and reflective practice.
Employment Requirements (prior to start date)
- Practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church.
- Background check clearance
- Signed Diocese of Brooklyn Code of Conduct
- Completion of VIRTUS training
- Up-to-date immunization record
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal work authorization
