IMSA Central in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Founding Teacher for grades K-6 to help build a brand-new charter school opening Fall 2026. You will create a dynamic, engaging, and nurturing learning environment and implement a comprehensive educational program while collaborating with colleagues, administrators, and parents.

The role requires Indiana teaching license with Elementary Education endorsement, a Bachelor's in Education or math-related field, and a commitment to equity and student

Qualifications

  • Indiana Teaching License with endorsement in Elementary Education is required.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a mathematics-related field is required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Prior successful teaching experience at the elementary or middle school level preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of improving student achievement outcomes preferred.
  • Upon offer, the applicant must complete and clear all background check requirements for school personnel as required by IN state law.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a respectful and effective classroom management system.
  • Promote positive student behavior and address behavioral issues in accordance with school policies.
  • Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages risk-taking and learning from mistakes.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and development.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and other staff to plan and improve instructional practices.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

Job description

IMSA Central is a brand new expansion charter school opening in Fall 2026. As a Founding Teacher, you have the opportunity to help build a school from the beginning. Classroom Teachers are responsible for creating a dynamic, engaging, and nurturing learning environment that fosters students' academic growth and development. The teacher will implement a comprehensive educational program and collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student learning and growth. We have openings for teachers in kindergarten to sixth grade.

Please note this position is not for our North or West Campuses; it is for Central School.

Requirements:
Instructional Planning and Delivery:
  • Develops, plans, and delivers strong Tier 1 mathematics instruction aligned with Indiana Academic Standards

Student Support and Differentiation:
  • Identify and address individual student needs through differentiated instruction and personalized learning plans.
  • Provide additional support to students with special needs, including collaborating with special education staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
Communication and Collaboration:
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and development.
  • Participate in parent-teacher conferences, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and other staff to plan and improve instructional practices.
Professional Development and Growth:
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
  • Reflect on personal teaching practices and seek feedback for continuous improvement.
