Job summary

Periodic Labs is building an AI-enabled autonomous lab and is standing up a thin-film lab in Menlo Park. We seek a Process Technician to own day-to-day tool operation, sample preparation, and first-line maintenance, ensuring throughput remains high and variance low.

This contract position is on-site with a 6-month term and potential extension or conversion as the lab scales. You will work with deposition and metrology tools, and collaborate with process engineers on non-standard experiments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating thin-film deposition or metrology equipment in a lab or fab setting.
• Ability to read and interpret process recipes and run them to spec.
• Strong documentation habits and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Run deposition tools to SOP and log results.
• Prepare samples: dice, cleave, mount, and clean substrates.
• Operate characterization tools and log data accurately.
• Perform first-line and preventive maintenance on chambers and equipment.
• Maintain tool qualification and track process metrics over time.
• Document experiments and keep metadata standards.
• Ensure lab safety and proper cleanroom protocol.
