Job summary

Amcor is seeking a Product Development Engineer to advance thermoforming projects from concept to production tooling. You will lead tool development, optimize processes, and collaborate across engineering, sales, and quality to meet customer specs.

The role focuses on developing new thermoformed products, coordinating with co-manufacturing sites, and ensuring robust, repeatable manufacturing with strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of plastics manufacturing experience (exposure to extrusion, thermoforming, tooling).
• Experience with thermoforming, part design, and mold-making preferred.
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and attention to detail.
• Willingness to travel 30-50% domestically.
• Experience leading capital projects with OEMs and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Support new product launches for thermoformed products across business segments.
• Manage new product introductions from idea to production tool commercialization.
• Collaborate with account managers, marketing, product management and external partners.
• Lead tool development and process optimization to ensure robust, repeatable tooling.
• Select vendors for tooling and sign-off acceptance.
• Work with production and quality on tool debugging and process validation.
• Establish forming windows and processing specifications.
• Provide manufacturing equipment input to enable future growth.
• Originate ideas to support R&D strategy and manage multiple priorities.
