Job summary

Brunswick Mercury Marine, based in Fond du Lac, WI, is seeking a PD&E team member to support engine dynamometer testing and development activities for propulsion systems. The role focuses on performance, emissions, fuel economy, and overall product quality.

Qualifications

• High School or GED minimum.
• Strong knowledge of internal combustion engine systems with troubleshooting experience.
• Proficiency with precision tools (torque wrenches, borescopes, calipers).
• Excellent interpersonal skills and data documentation accuracy.
• Preferred: basic machining, welding, and AVL Puma software experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct dyno testing to develop optimized base engine hardware and calibrations for power, emissions, fuel economy, and combustion stability.
• Rig engines in dyno cell and connect instrumentation.
• Perform engine maintenance on test engines (oil changes, valve lash, spark plugs).
• Install/remove engine parts as required (cylinders, cams, exhaust, sensors).
• Troubleshoot dyno cell issues and electrical/mechanical problems.
• Fabricate fixtures and route lines for test setups.
• Keep dyno cell clean and organized; prioritize safety.

Position Overview

As part of the PD&E team, you will play a key role in Mercury Marine's product development process. This position is responsible for supporting the execution of engine dynamometer testing and development activities that drive performance, emissions compliance, fuel economy, and overall product quality for new and existing propulsion systems. Essential Functions

• Conduct dyno testing to develop optimized base engine hardware and calibrations for power, emissions, fuel economy, and combustion stability
• Rig engines in dyno cell, install and/or connect instrumentation
• Perform engine maintenance for engines on test (oil change, valve lash, spark plugs, oil samples)
• Install/remove engine parts as required (cylinder heads, cams, exhaust, sensors, etc)
• Troubleshoot engine and dyno cell issues, electrical and mechanical
• Fabricate fixtures, test parts, route lines as required by test
• Organize and clean dyno cell and dyno console as needed
• Be an effective team member and commitment to safety

Required Qualifications

• Strong working knowledge of internal combustion engine systems with proven experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving engine-related issues
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• General curiosity and eagerness to learn as well as mentor others
• Extreme attention to detail for written logs and data documentation
• Proficient in the use of related precision tools and equipment (torque wrenches, borescopes, calipers)
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to lift moderate weight
• Basic machining, welding and fabrication experience is preferred
• Prior experience with dyno testing, engine performance, emissions, tuning is a strong plus
• AVL Puma software experience is a plus

Compensation

The anticipated pay range for this position is 54,300 - 75,400, annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
