Job summary

Chroma ATE, Inc. in Milpitas, CA seeks a Thermal Test Engineer to lead performance testing of thermal forcing systems in production and engineering environments.

You will validate functionality, optimize thermal performance, and support new product development through rigorous testing methodologies. The ideal candidate has a strong background in thermal engineering, instrumentation, and data analysis, with 3–5 years of related experience and proficiency in ANSYS/COMSOL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or thermal engineering is required.
• 3-5 years of related experience in thermal testing and validation.
• Experience with thermal modeling software (ANSYS, COMSOL) and data acquisition tools.
• Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and refrigeration principles.
• Ability to interpret sensor data and optimize thermal control algorithms.
• Excellent problem-solving and cross-functional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct performance testing on finished thermal forcing system production units to ensure specifications.
• Develop and execute test plans for new product development with R&D teams to refine designs.
• Analyze thermal efficiency, stability, and response times under various operating conditions.
• Utilize thermal sensors, data acquisition systems and thermal test vehicles to assess system behavior.
• Identify and troubleshoot thermal anomalies and propose design improvements.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and software engineers to optimize system performance.
• Maintain detailed documentation of test results, methodologies and recommendations.
• Support regulatory compliance and industry standards for thermal system validation.
• Travel up to 20%.
