Job summary

Blue Origin LLC in Denver, CO is seeking a Thermal Mechanical Design Engineer III to contribute to the MK1 Lunar Lander program. You will perform mechanical layout, create detail parts and assemblies, and manage data with Creo and Windchill, ensuring conformance to ASME Y14.5 and industry standards.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to select materials, optimize manufacturing processes, and release engineering data for aerospace hardware, including active and passive thermal

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering and 5+ years of related experience.
  • Strong mechanical design skills using Creo.
  • Proficiency in drawing generation and release processes using Creo Parametric and Windchill.
  • Proficiency in standard fits, tolerance stacks, and GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5).
  • Experience managing large CAD assemblies, BOMs, ICMs, and skeletons.
  • Experience designing active thermal hardware (tubing, radiators, coldplates, pump assemblies) and/or passive thermal hardware (MLI blankets, TPS).
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design layouts, create detail part and assembly drawings/MBDs, and release data sets using CAD/PLM tools.
  • Create and review engineering drawings to ensure alignment with specs and standards.
  • Support mechanical layout and detail design for structural parts and assemblies.
  • Apply company design and drafting techniques to depict engineering designs in datasets.
  • Implement engineering and manufacturing methodologies to balance cost, schedule and performance.
  • Collaborate with materials, manufacturing, and supplier teams to deliver aerospace hardware.
