Job summary

Johnson Controls in Burlington, MA is seeking a Solutions Engineer to join the Stack Forging Thermal Solutions team. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering, operations, and sales to deliver high-performance thermal components and cooling loop solutions for AI, HPC, and defense applications.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Physics and 5+ years of engineering and project leadership, with onsite presence four days a week and one remote day.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify and manage project risks, ensuring on-time delivery within scope and quality.
• Support clear communication with customers, providing updates and resolving technical challenges.
• Collaborate with sales and technical sales during handover phases to ensure continuity and understanding of customer expectations.
• Drive project success by aligning internal stakeholders around clear objectives and deliverables.
• Develop novel thermal-fluid solutions mapping capabilities to customer needs.
• Participate in initial analysis and feasibility assessments for customer problems.
• Distill insights from projects to inform product and technology roadmap.

Join the movement as a Builder on the Stack Forging Thermal Solutions team at Johnson Controls, as a Solutions Engineer located in Burlington, MA. This is a team of roll-up-your-sleeves innovators who set bold standards—for themselves and for each other. This position requires an onsite presence 4 days a week, with an option to work remotely 1 day a week. Candidates must be commuting distance to the facility, or able to relocate. How you will do it

Project Coordination & Management

• Once a project is won, lead a cross-functional team of engineers to ensure the successful execution of the project.




• Proactively identify and manage project risks, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.




• Support clear, proactive communication with customers, providing updates, managing expectations, and resolving technical challenges efficiently




• Collaborate closely with sales and technical sales teams during handover phases to ensure continuity and a deep understanding of customer expectations




• Drive project success by aligning internal engineering, operations, and customer stakeholders around clear objectives and deliverables.

Thermal Architecture & Feasibility

• Develop novel thermal-fluid solutions and concepts that map our capabilities to customer needs.




• Participate in initial analysis and feasibility assessments to determine if a customer's problem is a strong fit for our technology.




• Distill insights from projects to help inform the product and technology roadmap.

What you will need

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics or a related field




• 5+ years of experience




• Expertise in thermal management, heat transfer, and related system design principles




• Experience in a customer-facing capacity (e.g., applications, sales, or field engineering)




• Demonstrated ability to lead and oversee technical projects




• Experience in project management fundamentals, with a focus on execution, including requirements definition, risk management, and schedule oversight

Preferred

• A graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field with a focus on thermal fluids




• Experience in a manufacturing setting




• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100,000 - $145,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
