Job summary

Karman+ in Broomfield, Colorado, is seeking a spacecraft thermal engineer to own the thermal model from component level to system level, supporting a near-Earth asteroid mission and a rigorous test program in our own chamber.

You will design the thermal control system, specify heaters and radiators, run TVAC tests, and work with power, avionics and propulsion teams to deliver a robust, multi-year deep-space mission.

Qualifications

• Experience in spacecraft thermal engineering with at least one program through thermal-vacuum testing, ideally flight.
• Fluency with a spacecraft thermal analysis tool (Thermal Desktop/SINDA, ESATAN or equivalent) and good model judgment.
• Hands-on test experience: instrumenting hardware, running TVAC, correlating models to data.

Responsibilities

• Own the spacecraft thermal model and environments, eclipses, and asteroid-proximity phase.
• Design the thermal control system (radiators, coatings, MLI, heaters, interfaces) and balance budgets with the power team.
• Execute component-level thermal design for in-house electronics and boards.
• Plan and run thermal-vacuum tests at our facility; interpret results and report correlations.
• Specify thermal hardware and coatings; ensure cleanliness and outgassing compliance.
• Support integration, launch-site operations, and in-flight thermal monitoring.
