Job summary

Gotion Inc. seeks a Thermal Engineer – Battery Systems in Manteno, IL to lead engineering decisions for battery cells, modules, packs and cooling strategies, collaborating with US OEM customers and internal teams.

The role requires hands-on CFD/thermal modeling using COMSOL, ANSYS Fluent or STAR-CCM+, a Master’s in mechanical engineering, 3+ years of relevant experience, and willingness to travel. Base salary range is $90,000–$128,000 with a 15% bonus and benefits. Full-time onsite.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in high voltage battery pack thermal design and simulations.
• Proficiency with CAE tools: COMSOL, ANSYS Fluent, STAR-CCM+; CATIA V6.
• Self-starter with proactive mindset, able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Perform state-of-the-art Thermal/CFD simulations to analyze thermal performance of battery packs and components.
• Lead collaboration with US OEM customers and internal teams to drive pack designs to production.
• Coordinate with offshore teams to manage end-to-end analysis, ensuring quality and schedule alignment.
• Present technical findings, trade-offs, and actionable recommendations to leadership.
• Provide simulation-driven input to design, manufacturing, test, supply chain, and quality teams.
• Correlate simulation results with test data and update models for accuracy.
• Support DFMEA, design reviews, and DVP&R testing planning.
• Document modeling approaches and results to aid design improvements.
