Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Lead Technician Engineering is responsible for constructing, assembling, calibrating, and testing High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) thermal spray coating systems. The role includes providing remote and onsite customer support as needed.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Constructing, troubleshooting, repairing, calibrating, and testing HVOF systems with minimal supervision.
- Building electrical control panels, loading PLC programs, and debugging.
- Calibrating mass flow controllers using manufacturer software.
- Forming steel tubing, installing fittings, and leak checking systems.
- Preparing systems for shipment, including setup, calibration, and teardown.
- Collaborating with engineering to implement updates and design changes.
- Communicating with customers regarding equipment issues.
- Maintaining documentation and manuals using MS Word.
- Following safety procedures, including working safely with gases like Hydrogen and Propylene.
- Traveling up to 25% to perform training and calibrations at customer sites.
- Supporting development of thermal spray coatings and assisting other departments as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years experience with mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, PLCs, and electro-mechanical devices.
- Ability to read schematics, construct control panels, use multimeters, and troubleshoot PLCs and electrical systems.
- Experience with soldering, power tools, and working from technical drawings or manuals.
- Physical ability to lift up to 33 lbs.
- Ability to work safely with combustible gases.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and solid communication skills.
- Ability to obtain a passport.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in MET or EET.
- Experience with HVOF or wear coatings.
- Knowledge of OMRON or Siemens PLC programming.
