Blue Origin is seeking a Thermal Engineer to own the thermal design of our phased array antennas, including satellite payloads and ground terminals. You will build transient thermal models for dense multi‑chip stacks and drive the interface design, heat pipes, and thermal storage while defining duty cycles for constellation operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering, physics, or related field.
• 5+ years in thermal engineering for aerospace, RF systems, or high‑power‑density electronics.
• Spaceborne thermal design experience: vacuum, radiation heat transfer, flight hardware qualification.
• Strong grasp of phased array thermal challenges and RF efficiency coupling.
• Proficiency with thermal modeling tools and good judgement on hand calculations.
• Materials, coatings, and interface technologies for space and outdoor hardware.
• Familiarity with NASA/ESA/MIL‑STD or similar environments.

Responsibilities

• Own thermal architecture for satellite payloads and ground terminals.
• Build and run transient thermal models for dense multi‑chip stacks.
• Drive interface design: mounting, materials, heat pipes, and spacers.
• Define duty cycles and operational limits for constellation operations.
• Run architecture‑level trades and quantify effects on temperature, mass, and cost.
• Set requirements, margins, and verification plans; execute test articles.
• Design for a high‑rate production line; mentor engineers on scaling.
• Collaborate across RF, silicon, structures, power, and manufacturing teams.
