Job summary

RTX is seeking a Thermal Analyst I to ensure structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio. The role covers from initial concepts to fielded weapon systems, using classical methods and state‑of‑the‑art finite element tools, validated by tests to balance cost and performance.

You will work onsite at a Raytheon facility with engineers on problems of moderate complexity, lead peer reviews, and present results to stakeholders while generating detailed reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics required by start date.
• Academic or professional experience in thermal design and analysis.
• Experience with FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA, ANSYS or equivalents.

Responsibilities

• Perform hand calculations and determine requirements for higher order analyses.
• Conduct detailed thermal analyses to address program challenges.
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware requirements.
• Support test setup, analyze data, and validate thermal models.

What You Will Do

The Thermal Analyst I is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support, MA&T delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the‑art finite element methods leveraging industry leading commercial tools; all complimented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost effective yet technically balanced solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform hand calculations and determine requirements for higher order detailed analysis
• Perform detailed thermal analyses to solve various program thermal design challenges
• Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance to requirements
• Support test setup and execution, analyze test data, correlate and validate thermal models
• Work with experienced engineers on problems of moderate complexity to provide solutions within program cost and schedule constraints
• Coordinate and lead technical peer reviews ensuring the technical accuracy of work product
• Present results to internal stakeholders and external customers
• Generate detailed, archival technical reports

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) obtained by start date
• Academic or professional experience in thermal design and analysis
• Academic or professional experience with any of the following tools: FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA, ANSYS or equivalence

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience with solid modeling CAD tool such as CREO or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
• Academic or professional experience in electronics cooling and aerodynamic heating analyses
• Thermal test and instrumentation experience

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
