Job summary

RTX is seeking an intern for the Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) department in Huntsville, AL to tackle thermal analyses under a senior engineer. You will perform analyses/tests, document results, and participate in peer reviews.

The role offers hands-on learning in structural and thermal engineering, using industry-standard FE tools such as ANSYS, Patran, Nastran, and CREO, with opportunities to contribute to customer-facing deliverables.

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced STEM degree and actively enrolled through internship session.
  • Minimum 60 hours of credit by start of internship.
  • Experience with FE analysis tools such as ANSYS, Patran, Nastran or Thermal Desktop.

What You Will Do

The Mechanical Analysis and Test (MA&T) Department is responsible for ensuring structural and thermal design robustness across the Raytheon portfolio of products. From preliminary concepts to fielded weapon system support, MA&T delivers innovative structural and thermal engineering solutions utilizing methods ranging from classical fundamental & empirically based techniques to state-of-the-art finite element methods leveraging industry leading commercial tools; all complimented and validated by tests executed in a manner to ensure cost effective yet technically balanced solutions.

As an intern in the Analysis and Test Department, you will be working one on one with a senior engineer, tackling thermal analysis tasks that will give you a great hands-on learning experience. You will be responsible for performing the analyses/tests, getting the results peer-reviewed, and documenting the results in a report.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor's or Advanced STEM or related degree and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session.
  • Experience with engineering Finite Element Analysis tools and software such as ANSYS Workbench, Patran, Nastran and/or Thermal Desktop

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Experience utilizing CAD (Computer Aided Design) tools such as CREO
  • Experience with problem solving using data-driven approaches

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
