Job summary

Select Rehabilitation Hospital Denton is recruiting a Therapy Aide/Safety Coach for Per Diem weekend shifts at our Denton, Texas inpatient rehabilitation facility. The role focuses on direct patient care, assisting therapists, and coordinating patient transfers and activities throughout therapy sessions.

The position requires a high school diploma and BLS certification, with a preference for prior hospital therapy aide experience.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.
• One or more years of hospital experience as a therapy aide preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient related tasks assigned by therapist.
• Lifts patients to/from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs and other equipment.
• Assists patients with transfer activities to all surfaces.
• Assists patients in donning/doffing all appliances specific to the facility/department.
• Positions patients in parallel bars and prepares patients for standing with orthotic/prosthetic devices.
• Transports patients to/from therapy as needed.
• Assists therapist with other patient related treatment activities as appropriate and providing equipment.
• Assist with patient related activities including equipment setup and patient positioning in preparation for therapy session as outlined in the State Practice.
• 10 hour shifts.
• Direct patient care with patients that potentially have behaviors that benefit from additional structured activities outside of therapy sessions for improved attending to task, managing stimulation, and returning to prior level of function.
• Managing patient scheduling with participation in the program fairly independently.
• Assisting nursing in managing patients as they present with behaviors and assist with de-escalation
