As the only free-standing children's specialty hospital in New York State, we admit patients with complex medical conditions to our state-of-the-art 94-bed inpatient facility from academic medical centers across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut. The Therapy Aide provides essential support to the therapy team by escorting patients, transferring them on and off equipment, and performing patient/resident programs under supervision. The Therapy Aide also assists with maintaining the general upkeep of the department.

• Assist in the feeding program under the direction of Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Support patients in participating in classroom routine centers, including play, sensory activities, and mealtimes.
• Assist in the distribution and return of meal trays to the food cart.
• Participate in training programs, including Mealtime Safety and Sequential Oral Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding.
• Assist in maintaining the department, organizing equipment, and managing supplies.
• Demonstrate competency in the Meditech Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system; ensure timely and appropriate documentation.
• Participate in therapy, special, and hospital training as needed.
• Clean therapy materials (e.g., toys, mats, feeding equipment).
• Transport patients/residents to and from designated locations.
• Maintain departmental inventories and supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Experience collaborating with other professionals at all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, understanding, and speaking English.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients safely,
• Ability to lift, pull, carry, bend, and crouch.
