Job summary

Helen M Simpson Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a Therapy Aide for a per diem schedule located inside UPMC Community Osteopathic. Compensation ranges from $20.50 to $24.50 per hour and pay is based on years of experience.

The hospital emphasizes exceptional patient care for brain injuries, spinal injuries, neurological and orthopedic conditions. The role includes direct support to therapists, patient transfers, equipment setup, and assisting with treatments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient-related tasks as directed by therapist.
• Lifts patients to/from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs and other equipment.
• Assists patients with transfer activities to all surfaces.
• Assists patients in donning/doffing all appliances specific to the facility/department.
• Positions patients in parallel bars and prepares them for standing with orthotic/prosthetic devices and equipment.
• Transports patients to/from therapy as needed.
• Assists therapist with other patient-related treatment activities as appropriate and providing equipment.
• Assist with patient-related activities including equipment setup and patient positioning for therapy session as outlined in the State Practice.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

BLS certification or completion within 90 days

Minimum Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of hospital experience as a therapy aide preferred
