Meals On Wheels OC in Anaheim, CA is seeking a Therapy Aide ADHC to support older adults in rehabilitative activities. You will assist with exercise instruction, equipment handling, and participant preparation for therapy sessions.

Qualifications

  • Nurse Assistant certification or minimum of work experience in rehabilitation services.
  • One year of rehabilitative services experience.
  • Knowledge and ability to learn therapy principles, techniques, methods and modalities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with participants.
  • Must possess ability to relate to older persons and sensitivity to the needs of the elderly.
  • Must pass a post-offer physical examination and obtain a tuberculosis clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Safely transports participants to the therapy area according to the daily time schedule.
  • Assists and prepares participants for transferring and toileting.
  • Provides on-site supervision to participants in the therapy area.
  • Assists in the maintenance, care, and cleaning of equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrates and teaches good body mechanics to the participants.
  • Reports participant responses and reactions to treatment to the Physical and Occupational Therapist.
  • Completes patient attendance information and other charting activities.
  • Assists with orientation and training of Certified Nurse’s Assistant(s) assigned to the physical and occupational therapy area.
  • Checks equipment routinely to ensure proper operation and follows procedures for notification, repair and replacement.
  • Meets participant's care requirements per the individual care plan.
  • Performs other tasks as requested under supervision and within scope of abilities.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lifting and moving participants- must be able to assist participants with limited mobility, which may involve lifting, supporting, or transferring them to different positions or equipment
  • Prolonged standing and walking – the role requires extended periods of standing and walking, often moving between different areas and equipment within the facility.
  • Bending, kneeling, and reaching- frequent bending, kneeling, and reaching to assist participants, adjust equipment, or prepare work areas.
  • Frequent interaction with participants- regularly engage with participants, which may involve physical contact, to assist them with exercises and movement.
