Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field is required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Two+ years of recreation therapy experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Complete activity assessment through patient observation and interviews to develop and implement the treatment plan.
• Plan, organize, direct and implement activities within the treatment program to facilitate progress.
• Plan and implement activities including therapeutic leisure skills, education, and leisure awareness.
• Facilitate and lead activity sessions to improve mental and physical well-being.
• Instruct patients in activities such as sports, dance, music, art, or relaxation techniques to meet needs.
• Develop treatment plans and interventions that meet patient needs and promote safe leisure time use.
• Provide interventions to develop social skills and leisure independence.
• Modify activities to suit groups.
• Direct and supervise activity staff if applicable.
• Maintain professional attitude and address patient complaints with safety as priority.
• Perform other functions as assigned.
