Job description

As a Therapist, Suicide Prevention Program (SPP), you will work in collaborative settings to provide biopsychosocial assessments, individual and group therapy, and work with your team to coordinate care across a range of treatment settings. You will have the ability to manage a caseload and make decisions with appropriate autonomy.

Schedule: Full-time position with working hours from 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver Family-Centered Psychotherapy: Provide evidence-based individual, joint family, and parent/guardian teletherapy for youth (ages 12–26) at high or critical risk of suicide, utilizing family-systems frameworks, C-CBT, DBT skills, and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Conduct Suicide Risk Assessment & Safety Planning: Administer validated risk assessment tools (e.g., C-SSRS) and lead real-time Safety Planning, lethal means counseling, and crisis stabilization tailored to both the youth and their family unit.
  • Manage Monthly Acuity & Risk Stratification: Complete validated clinical assessments at monthly review periods to measure acuity, track suicide risk trajectory, and dynamically adjust care frequency and treatment goals based on member readiness and family capacity.
  • Lead Clinical Care Team Collaboration: Direct the clinical safety strategy in close partnership with assigned Care Team Members (CTM) and the Crisis Center, ensuring aligned roles without duplicating billable services.
  • Provide Crisis Escalation Response: Serve as the licensed clinician for high-acuity escalations, executing immediate risk mitigation, triage, and rapid safety plan updates during critical member events.
  • Maintain Fee-for-Service & Medicaid Compliance: Complete high-integrity, timely clinical documentation (DAP) that explicitly substantiates medical necessity, suicide risk levels, family interventions, and whole-person care for Medicaid Fee-for-Service (FFS) billing.
  • Drive Multimodal Youth & Family Engagement: Utilize multi-platform engagement technology (video, secure messaging, interactive safety apps) to maintain persistent outreach and re-engage ambivalent youth or overwhelmed caregivers.
  • Integrate Care Infrastructure & Panel Tracking: Actively participate in interdisciplinary huddles, maintain registry accuracy, and monitor personal KPIs (billable hours, documentation turnaround, and show rates) to optimize clinical outcomes across the program panel.
  • Collaborate with the member, family, and healthcare providers to develop an individualized plan of care.
  • Develop and coordinate community resources with emphasis on medical, behavioral, suicide prevention, and social services.
  • Identify and initiate referrals for social service programs – including financial, psycho-social, community, and state supportive services.
  • Document all member assessments, care plans, and referrals provided. Prepare and maintain all required records, reports, paperwork, and member’s diagnostic records, maintaining confidentiality of members at all times.
Education & Work Experience:
  • Master’s degree in psychology, social work, or other applicable behavioral health discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Licensure: Current Nevada Department of Health (NV DOH) independent behavioral health license. Eligible licenses include:

    • Licensed Psychologist
  • Two or more years of direct experience working with adolescents and adults in the behavioral health field required. Experience in suicide prevention strongly preferred.
  • Crisis intervention training and experience required.
  • Knowledge of local resources, social determinants of health, mental health, substance use disorders, interpersonal violence, and social issues.
  • Familiarity with Medicare or Medicaid practices preferred
Skills Required:
  • Relentless about prioritizing and following through on assigned tasks independently. Superior time management and organization to complete daily tasks by the end of each day.
  • Computer proficiency; Including experience with electronic health records (EHR).
  • Ability to exercise strict confidentiality and sound judgment with respect to sensitive member information, maintaining the integrity of member records at all times.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills. Clearly and accurately relay information to staff, business partners, stakeholders, and members including collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Problem Solving: Identifies needs and takes independent action to implement change when and where it is needed; results oriented. Ability to plan, organize, manage time, and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments.
