Job summary

Baptist Memorial Health Care Corporation is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate and treat patients, establishing goals and plans of care to restore communication and swallowing function. You will implement therapy per plan, document progress, and participate in discharge planning while ensuring compliance with licensure and facility policies.

May supervise clinical students and support staff as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited SLP program.
• Licensed as SLP; CCC is preferred.
• Hospital-based SLP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and assesses the patient based on subjective and objective information.
• Communicates results of the evaluation to patient and other caregivers.
• Provides treatment according to established goals on plan of care.
• Documents interventions/care in the patient's medical record.
• Evaluates effectiveness of plan of care and reassesses patient's functional status as needed.
• Provides discharge planning information including patient/family education, follow-up, and referrals.

Provides treatment according to a written plan of care to meet established goals. Plans for discharge and communicates findings and progress according to professional licensure/certification, scope of practice and departmental/discipline policies and procedures. Produces other reports as needed. May supervise clinical students and support staff including certified/licensed assistants, technicians, and volunteers. Adheres to the ASHA Code of Ethics. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health, and healing. Performs other duties as assigned.
