All Staten Island programs are allotted a $4,420 commuter differential that is applicable to anyone who currently works or is hired to work on Staten Island who doesn’t live in Staten Island in addition to the base salary or hourly wage.

KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide Child welfare Preventive services primarily within the client’s home and community.
  • Learn and implement the brief strategic family therapy model to children ages 6–18 and their families to promote safety and healthier family functioning.
  • Provide services to all household members.
  • Integrate case management with an evidence-based model to help families meet basic needs, promote stability, and reduce stress.
  • Coordinate services with all providers involved with the family to ensure needs are addressed.
  • Identify and evaluate risks.
  • Conduct assessments, review referral information, identify and engage key participants, and collaboratively develop goals.
  • Engage primary caregivers and key participants actively in change-oriented treatment, overcoming barriers to engagement.
  • Maintain fidelity to the treatment model to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Work within the model’s structure regarding treatment length, contacts, interventions, supervision, and documentation.
  • Participate in consultations with the model developer.
  • Record sessions via audio/video for training and supervision as needed.
  • Maintain clear documentation in CNNX case records, including progress notes and Family Services Assessment plans, and enter data in PROMIS.
  • Work on a hybrid schedule based on program needs.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:

• Family systems theory and application

• Substance use/abuse theory (for MST-SA) and behavioral approaches to SA treatment

• Social ecological theory and application

• Behavioral therapies and cognitive-behavioral therapy theories

• Social skills assessment, intervention, and child development research

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Home-based work experience

• Experience in Child Welfare, JJI, or adolescent-focused programs

• Knowledge of Evidence-Based Models, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused work

• Experience working with diverse communities

• Family therapy practice experience

• Comfort with group supervision and professional development commitment

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field
  • Current NYS Licensure (LCSW, LMSW, LMHC) preferred, not required
