Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health's Marble Falls Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to join the clinical team on a PRN day shift with weekend availability. Under the supervision of a physical therapist, you will assess patients, administer planned therapies, and support mobility.

This role offers opportunity to contribute to restorative care in a busy hospital setting. Qualifications include an Associate's degree and BLS certification; less than 1 year of experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; PTA credential preferred.
• Less than 1 year of experience.
• BLS certification or completion within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Administers physical therapy interventions as planned by the Physical Therapist.
• Instructs and assists patients, monitors patient performance and physical status to gauge effectiveness.
• Assists with patient mobility, including bed mobility, transfers, and gait.
• Adheres to safety practices with patient guarding.
• Escorts patients to the treatment area for therapy.
• Establishes rapport with patients professionally.
• Develops and documents home exercise programs as needed.
• Prepares detailed assessments and documents patient progress and shares with relevant parties.
• Communicates with the Physical Therapist regarding patient progress and goal modification.
• Submits accurate charges in a timely manner.
• Supervises PT aides and students as assigned; follows Texas PT Act guidelines.
• Keeps up with continuing education and certifications.

Job Summary

The Physical Therapist Assistant, supervised by a physical therapist, conducts patient assessment, testing, and therapy. They use standard physical therapy methods to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.

Essential Functions Of The Role

• Administers physical therapy interventions as planned by the Physical Therapist. Facilitates quality patient care and applies therapeutic methods appropriately.
• Instructs and assists patients, monitors patient performance and physical status to ascertain effectiveness of program.
• Assists with patient mobility, including bed mobility, transfers, and gait. Utilizes modalities correctly and answers patient questions about their use.
• Adheres to safety practices with patient guarding.
• Escorts patients to the treatment area in preparation for treatment.
• Establishes rapport with patient in a professional manner.
• Develops and documents effective home exercise programs and supplemental instructional programs as needed.
• Prepares detailed and clear assessments and documentation of patient treatment and progress. Ensures information is given to the appropriate parties.
• Communicates with the Physical Therapist as needed regarding patient progress and need for goal modification.
• Submits accurate charges in a timely manner.
• Supervises physical therapy aides and students as assigned, following Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act guidelines. Effectively communicates treatment information to the Physical Therapy aide.
• Fulfills continuing education or certification requirements to maintain qualifications. Takes responsibility to know and complete professional and technical requirements. Provides documentation on such requirements. Attends available professional education programs. Reviews and studies current physical therapy and medical literature. Presents educational programs to Physical Therapy staff professionally when requested.
