Job summary

Westpark Springs in Richmond, TX is seeking a Therapist to join our inpatient and outpatient teams serving adults, adolescents and children with psychiatric, substance use, or co‑occurring disorders. You will provide individual, group and family therapy and ensure thorough clinical documentation.

The role requires a Master’s degree in social work or counseling and an active state license, CPR and CPI within 30 days.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work or counseling required.
  • Current active state license (LCSW/LPC/LMFT or equivalent) required.
  • Experience with psychiatric and substance use disorder populations preferred.
  • CPR certification and CPI within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual, group and family therapy for psychiatric and substance use disorders.
  • Ensure accurate and timely patient documentation.
  • Participate in treatment planning and discharge planning.
  • Assist in crisis intervention and de-escalation.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Coordinate with care coordination, UR and nursing staff as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing psychotherapy and counseling therapies including group, individual and family therapy for patients suffering from psychiatric and substance abuse issues. Ensures accurate and timely patient documentation.
  • Conducts individual and group therapy sessions to educate patients regarding psychological, emotional, or substance abuse problems.
  • Displays active involvement in the treatment planning process.
  • Displays active involvement in the discharge, transition, and after‑care planning treatment process.
  • As therapeutically necessary, provides family session counseling to patients to ensure appropriate communication and involvement of family members and support groups.
  • Supports vital and UDS capture as needed.
  • Actively communicates with clients, families, and outside referral sources, functioning within the scope of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Demonstrates proactive communication with those involved with the patient’s treatment, documenting all correspondence held with patients and other stakeholders.
  • Ongoing and consistent collaboration with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, utilization review and nursing staff members. Demonstrates active communication with team members.
  • Effectively communicates to UR on treatment and LOS issues, supporting in UR functions/authorizations/denials as needed and requested.
  • Completes appropriate paperwork for clients in a timely, accurate, and complete manner.
  • Completes required assessment paperwork including patient assessment scales, Columbia, psychosocial/LOC assessments (not applicable at all facilities), psychosocial/LOC updates, and assigned assessment paperwork.
  • Demonstrates appropriate crisis intervention and de‑escalation skills. Acts as member of team when a crisis occurs, assisting others to ensure patient safety.
  • Enacts the code system per company policy and training.
  • Completes accurate assessments of patients utilizing clinical skills. Assists care coordination department as requested.
  • Completes all documentation thoroughly, timely, and in accordance with hospital/facility standards.
  • Displays a thorough knowledge of confidentiality. Completes releases appropriately. Demonstrates knowledge of HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations and abides by those standards.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of all clinical regulations, including TJC/CARF (as applicable), Medicaid, and state and federal laws.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Education: Master’s degree in social work or counseling or relevant state licensure required.
  • Experience: Prior experience with psychiatric and chemical dependency patients.
  • License: Current unencumbered clinical license per state of practice guidelines.
  • Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days.
