Job Duties:

  • Provides individual, group, and family counseling services.
  • Services are consistent with the program methodology and in conformance with all program standards. Demonstrates flexibility in support of the overall mission of the agency on a countywide basis.
  • Encourages the increase of social support and the use of natural support systems for adults, children, and families.
  • Provides culturally competent, strength-based, and solution-focused therapy services that respond to the goals set by the individual or family needing counseling services.
  • Uses respectful and strength-based words and actions with individuals and families. Discusses individuals and families with supervisors and peers in an appropriate manner.
  • Uses Feedback Informed Treatment with all clients within 6 months of employment.
  • Understands that using FIT measures will be part of the employee’s performance evaluation.
  • Assists adults, children, and families in developing specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound goal planning.
  • Recognizes and applies interventions to address co-occurring diagnoses and trauma, providing trauma-informed care.
  • Provides group therapy to adults, children, and families.
  • Ensures program objectives are met by completing the Diagnosis, GAF/CGAS, and Goal Attainment Scale scores at intake and at six-month intervals or when individuals/families discontinue services.
  • Completes all documentation in the required time frame, including clinical documents, reports, outcomes enrollment, and discharges.
  • Reports all risks to supervisor and ensures that risk notes and safety plans are completed as appropriate.
  • Participates fully in bi-weekly supervision with program manager; reviews treatment techniques, case progress, and job performance.
  • Meets productivity standard of 60%, which is a minimum of 100 client hours per month.
  • Remains current in general knowledge of psychotropic medications, side effects, and DSM diagnostic criteria.
  • Coordinates efforts between multiple service providers when appropriate and consented to, including assessing and making referrals for medical, substance use disorders, and any other needs that arise.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree required in social work, counseling, family therapy, or closely related field; may be licensed as a clinical social worker, family therapist, or mental health counselor.

Licensure: Licensure not required; Licensed or license eligible preferred.

Experience: Experience working with adults, children, and families in need of mental health services.

Additional Requirements:

Must be 21 years of age.

Negative drug screening prior to hire and throughout employment.

Clear criminal background check throughout employment with Suncoast Center and local checks prior to hire and annually, along with DCF Level II prior to hire and as required by DCF. Must have valid Florida Driver’s License, motor vehicle checks prior to hire and annually, with an acceptable driving record maintained throughout employment, along with a reliable vehicle, valid registration, and valid vehicle insurance.

Must be able to provide official transcripts.

Working Conditions: Work is in office. Schedule includes evenings.
