Job description

Therapist II:

Provide specialized mental health or alcohol and other drug services including Mental Health Assessment, Chemical Dependency or Dual Diagnosis Assessment, Behavioral Health Counseling and Therapy Services, or other chemical dependency treatment services, Community Psychiatric Supportive Treatment or case management.

Responsibilities:

  1. Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
  2. Within scope of practice, implement site/corporation approved treatment practices, procedures or interventions.
  3. Conduct a diagnostic or needs assessment on referred clients.
  4. Consultation services may be provided according to priorities established to produce the greatest benefit in meeting the mental health and/or alcohol and other drug service needs of the community.
  5. Plan, implement and evaluate services with the participation of persons served and their families.
  6. Develop, maintain and monitor assigned clients’ ISP; review assigned clients’ progress in treatment and may communicate with other qualified mental health or alcohol and other drug providers, child care, administrative, educational staff and referring agency staff regarding the progress of assigned clients.
  7. Provide individual and group services as described above. May develop other therapeutic activities.
  8. Hold a small caseload and services will be provided where youth lives and functions depending on program needs.
  9. Provide in home, community or school to youth with severe emotional disturbance depending on program needs.
  10. Provide referrals to other services as required or necessary.
  11. Assist and support clients served in crisis situations as needed or appropriate for crisis intervention and safety planning.
  12. Maintain fidelity to program rules.
  13. Assist parent(s) of clients in strengthening communication skills; access appropriate physical and mental health care and chemical dependency resources as needed; access transportation needs; and provide opportunities to build social skills.
  14. Collaborate and coordinate services with other involved professionals including psychiatry and may monitor psychiatric symptoms of clients as appropriate.
  15. Provide training to direct care staff regarding the implementation of behavior therapy plans or specialized treatment procedures as needed.
  16. Monitor and follow up services accessed by client to determine if services meet the clients’ needs and determine any further follow up activity.
  17. Participate in quality improvement activities and service evaluation.
  18. Attend and participate in meetings, supervision and in-service trainings regarding specific areas of responsibility.
  19. Adhere to ethical standards specified by the Ohio Administrative Code and Catholic Charities’ code of ethics.
  20. Meet the training requirements of the organization and the Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board.
  21. Maintain professional licensure in accordance with the Ohio Administrative Code and provide Human Resources with a copy of his/her current professional license.
  22. Complete all progress notes and other documentation as required by policy, departmental procedure and accreditation.
  23. Provide and ensure the safety and rights of each assigned client by adhering to Clients Rights Policies; and report violations of client rights in accordance with policy.
  24. Meet the productivity standard in the provision of direct client services, such as individual and group services.
  25. Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives.

Requirements:

  1. Combination of education and experience normally represented by a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology.
  2. Must have LSW/LPC, or MFT.
  3. Current certification in First Aid and CPR, as needed per program requirements.
  4. Must have knowledge and utilization of community resources depending on clients served.
  5. Must be able to form good working and therapeutic relationships.
  6. Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  7. Must be able to effectively and productively work with people of very diverse economic, cultural and administrative backgrounds.
  8. Willingness to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, depending on program.
  9. Must be knowledgeable and responsive to cultural diversity issues presented in the coordination of services.
  10. Must have competent organizational skills, strong detail orientation and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  11. Must be able to work independently from general instructions.
  12. Must have good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
  13. If providing transportation services, must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License, provide copy of driver’s license and are subject to a Moving Vehicle Report (MVR) check through the Department of Motor Vehicles annually. Any MVR grade of “unacceptable” is not permitted to operate a vehicle on behalf of Catholic Charities.
  14. If transporting clients, must provide proof of auto insurance including effective dates of coverage and maintain minimum liability insurance coverage of $100,000 per individual and $300,000 per occurrence for driving personal vehicle.
  15. Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
