Job summary

Old Pueblo Community Services seeks a Therapist I to provide outpatient therapeutic services to clients experiencing homelessness, SMI, and substance use disorders. The role uses harm reduction and Housing First approaches, with hours Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm and occasional evenings.

Responsibilities include assessments, counseling, care coordination, and documentation in the EHR. Requires LMSW/LAC licensure and CPR/First Aid, with strong communication and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Associate licensure LMSW or LAC required.
  • Willingness to practice evidence‑based methods (de‑escalation, MI, Housing First, harm reduction).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain.
  • Valid Arizona driver license and reliable transportation.

  • Perform behavioral health assessments, screenings, recovery plans, and discharge summaries under supervision.
  • Provide group and individual counseling per Recovery Plan.
  • Update plans as services progress or when new needs arise.
  • Lead and participate in inter-disciplinary meetings to coordinate care.
  • Support colleagues through coaching and training to improve engagement.
  • Engage in clinical supervision with supervisor.
  • Document services in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Maintain confidential client files per HIPAA.

Description

Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm with evening hours.

The Therapist I is responsible for providing therapeutic services to OPCS outpatient clients. The role involves interacting with individuals who are experiencing homelessness, Serious Mental Illness, Substance Use Disorder, and other related conditions. The therapist will utilize a harm reduction and Housing First approach to support clients in reaching their goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Completion of behavioral health assessments, screenings, recovery plans, and discharge summaries as needed, under the direction of a Behavioral Health Professional.
  • Delivery of Counseling Services to clients in both a group and individual format in accordance with the Recovery Plan.
  • Making updates to the plan as services are completed. If it is determined that the client needs services outside of the current plan.
  • Conduct clinical and interdisciplinary staffing meetings to ensure quality service provision and strong coordination of care standards are met and communicated.
  • Support colleagues in managing their caseload through coaching on specific interventions and training tactics to increase engagement and quality of service.
  • Engage in clinical supervision with Clinical Supervisor.
  • Document services and information within the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Maintain all client files in a confidential manner and in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Associate Level Professional License (e.g., LMSW, LAC)
  • Willingness to learn and practice evidence-based practices, such as De-escalation (CPI Model), Motivational Interviewing, Housing First and Harm Reduction.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal
  • Strong computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records.
  • Possess and maintain valid CPR/First Aid Certification, or ability to complete training and pass certification.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license, proof of auto insurance and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience providing therapy to client with a serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Knowledge of Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs) used in treating clients in the areas of mental health, substance use, and trauma.
  • Bilingual

Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position. Salary placement is typically between the minimum and mid-point of the salary range.

Pay Rat: $22.42 - $27.53 – $32.63
