A Day in the Life as a Therapist/Case Manager
Clinical Work
As a
Therapist/Case Manager, you'll work closely with students to provide
individual, family, and group therapy, while also managing a caseload of diverse students with various emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Provide intensive, individualized therapy and case management services in line with students' IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) or IAPs (Individual Academic Plans).
- Develop, implement, and monitor treatment goals to address students' needs.
- Conduct IM+CANS mental health assessments and maintain accurate progress notes for all therapy sessions.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure that all interventions are clinically informed and consistent with each student's treatment plan.
Interpersonal Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with parents, faculty, and other partners to track student progress and provide support for families.
- Participate in team meetings and work closely with educators to ensure that therapeutic interventions are integrated into students' daily school experiences.
Documentation
- Write and track treatment goals, progress reports, and other required documentation in accordance with school policies and regulatory guidelines.
Professional Development
- Benefit from clinical supervision and training, allowing for continued growth and opportunities for licensure support and graduate extern supervision.
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D.), Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), School Social Worker, Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) fully licensed or accruing hours for licensure.
- Master's or Doctorate degree in a relevant field.
- Experience working with students with Emotional Disabilities and/or Autism.
- Trauma-informed clinical experience is preferred.
Mental & Physical Demands:
- Ability to manage a varied caseload, balancing direct clinical services with documentation and collaboration.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to interact effectively with students, families, and staff.
- Must be able to supervise students in a school setting and engage in interventions as needed during behavioral crises.
