Job Overview

This is a union position.

The Men’s Residential Therapist provides quality trauma-informed mental health treatment services to a caseload of dually diagnosed (mental health and substance abuse) in a residential setting. The therapist assesses clients’ treatment needs with program staff, performs risk assessment, provides individual, group and family therapy services, develops treatment plans for assigned clients and maintains all appropriate documentation.

Assists clients and their care coordinators with referrals and other linkages to community resources. Performs floor duties in the milieu that include (but are not limited to) assisting clients in coordinating outside appointments and transportation, overseeing client participation in program activities, monitoring medications compliance, and mediating client conflict when it arises. Actively participate with the treatment team to continuously assess and refine clinical programming efforts. Manages client risk and crisis intervention. On call after hours as needed. Attends staff and agency meetings. Participates in agency trainings as required. Complies with Board requirements for license registration/renewal.

Key Responsibilities

Conducts mental health assessments, develops treatment plans, completes release and consent forms, billing and reporting paperwork in hard copy and online in various electronic systems. Documents individual and group services delivered in various electronic systems in accordance with guidelines established by HealthRIGHT 360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.

Education And Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Licensed or Board Registered MFT or MFTI, LCSW or ASW, Psy.D. or Ph.D.
  • Minimum two years of experience in dual diagnosis substance abuse treatment in an inpatient or outpatient community mental health.
  • Supervised experience in mental health or psychiatric setting with varied populations.
  • Demonstrated clinical paperwork and record keeping abilities.
  • Familiarity with trauma informed therapy models, cognitive–behavioral therapy, brief psychotherapy and psycho-educational approach.
  • Familiarity with working with psychotic and other severe mental health presentations.
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Clinical experience in performing risk assessment and crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of trauma, co-occurring disorders and substance abuse treatment.
  • Knowledge of Clinical documentation (treatment plans, progress notes etc.).
  • Experience working with criminal justice population.
  • Bilingual.
