About Us

Balance House is a four-phase, year-long continuum of care dedicated to helping young adult men recover from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. We are an independently owned and operated, values-driven program. Our mission is to help young men build lives of integrity, meaning, and independence through a non-prescriptive, relational, and collaborative clinical approach.

We don’t do top-down treatment. Instead, we build real, trusting relationships that allow us to challenge and support our clients toward lasting change. Humor, honesty, accountability, and emotional authenticity are central to our work—because transformation should be both meaningful and human.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic, compassionate, and relationally-oriented Therapist to join our clinical team. You will work closely with clients at our phase one program, providing individual, group, and family therapy. The ideal candidate brings both clinical skill and emotional authenticity, and knows how to meet clients where they are while helping them move toward who they want to become.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual and group therapy sessions grounded in evidence-based and experiential modalities
• Collaborate with clients to develop individualized treatment goals aligned with their values and life direction
• Facilitate family therapy sessions and support family system healing
• Participate actively in multidisciplinary team meetings to ensure integrated care
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Support and model a culture of honesty, accountability, and values-driven behavior
• Contribute to the emotional tone of the community through authentic, relational presence
• Use humor, empathy, and creativity to build trust and engagement
• Engage in ongoing professional development and supervision

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, Counseling, or a related field (LMFT, LCSW, CMHC, or equivalent—licensed or actively pursuing licensure in Utah)
• Experience working with young adult males in substance abuse and/or dual diagnosis treatment settings preferred
• Strong ability to build rapport, navigate resistance, and hold clinical boundaries
• Alignment with a relational, client-centered therapeutic approach
• Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team
• Comfortable participating in an emotionally expressive, humorous, and values-based culture

Bonus if you have:

• Training in adventure or experiential therapy
• Background in trauma-informed modalities
• Previous experience in a residential or wilderness treatment setting
