Job summary

The Connect Academy in Illinois seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher to deliver individualized instruction aligned with IEPs and manage a structured, supportive classroom. Qualifications

• Experience implementing IEPs and collaborating with related service providers.
• Strong data collection and progress reporting skills.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and behavior management.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instruction aligned with each student’s IEP goals.
• Develop annual IEPs in collaboration with parents and team members.
• Assess student progress using ongoing data collection and analysis.
• Utilize diverse teaching strategies to meet behavioral and academic needs.
• Coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to tailor instructional goals and supports.
• Deliver all services outlined in each student’s IEP.
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance records.
• Create a positive, structured learning environment.
• Implement behavior management systems and BIPs aligned with student plans.
• Participate in FBAs and contribute to Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Apply trauma-informed de-escalation strategies.
• Maintain proactive parent/guardian communication.
• Supervise educational assistants and paraprofessionals.
• Collaborate with social workers, OTs, SLPs to integrate supports.
• Complete required state reporting and ongoing professional development.
