Job summary

Gilroy Unified School District Gilroy High School is seeking a Special Day Class Teacher (Mild/Mod or Mod/Sev - ESN) for an immediate start. You will provide an educational program for identified special education pupils with academic and cognitive challenges in a dedicated SDC setting.

You will lead language and speech development, assess student needs, implement IEPs, and collaborate with SST and families to support progress toward independence in a supportive school environment.

Qualifications

• Valid California teaching credential required.
• Ability to develop individualized instruction plans per IEP.
• Experience supporting students with special education needs.

Responsibilities

• Teaches special education pupils in a special day class with intensive language and speech program.
• Assesses pupils to plan individualized instruction.
• Implements IEPs per federal/state regulations for least restrictive environment.
• Aims for student independence and progress in regular classrooms when possible.
• Maintains accurate attendance and records; reports progress to parents and SST as needed.
• Coordinates with Special Education Paraprofessionals and Behavior Support Assistants.
