Job summary

Heritage Schools, Inc. is seeking an Equine Instructor to provide therapeutic riding and horsemanship instruction for youth in a residential treatment setting.

The role partners with therapists and the Equestrian Manager to foster confidence, responsibility, and emotional growth through hands-on horse experiences. You will teach riding, care for horses, and supervise students, while contributing to a safe learning environment and the overall equestrian program.

Qualifications

• Experience with horse care and riding instruction.
• Therapeutic riding experience preferred.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
• Must be at least 21 years old and able to work outdoors year round.

Responsibilities

• Teach therapeutic riding lessons and horsemanship to youth.
• Collaborate with therapists to support equine therapy sessions.
• Care for horses: feeding, grooming, stalls, health monitoring.
• Prepare horses, tack, and equipment for lessons and maintain a safe environment.
• Supervise students in the barn and model safe handling practices.
• Build positive relationships to support student growth and treatment goals.
• Report health or facility concerns promptly and assist with program operations.
