Job summary

National Health Care Associates, Inc. is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation/Activities professional for full-time work in Wallingford, CT.

You will develop and oversee engaging programs, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and guide the recreation staff to enhance seniors’ well-being. The role emphasizes creating an inclusive environment, assessing resident needs, and facilitating meaningful leisure activities for residents and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field.
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential preferred.
• Experience developing and leading therapeutic recreation programs.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Compassion and empathy when working with seniors.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee therapeutic recreation programs for residents
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess residents' needs and preferences
• Provide leadership and guidance to the therapeutic recreation team
• Organize and facilitate opportunities for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression while fulfilling residents' basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs
• Create a warm and inclusive environment that encourages resident participation
• Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as needed
• Assist the families of physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individuals to explore appropriate hobbies and leisure activities
