Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Corrections at SCI Camp Hill, seeks a Therapeutic Activities Worker to support recreation programs for inmates, helping them build skills, routines, and progress toward personal goals within a collaborative, multidisciplinary care setting.

Responsibilities include program planning, assessments, goal coordination, activity facilitation, progress monitoring, and active participation in team meetings to tailor treatment plans for specialized housing

Qualifications

• Four years of experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities.
• Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation, physical education, vocational rehabilitation, counseling, art/music/dance or related human services field, or equivalent.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements within 3 months of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the development, coordination, and implementation of individual and group therapeutic recreation programs.
• Assess inmate strengths, needs, and functioning levels to create therapeutic recreation objectives.
• Determine methods to meet therapeutic goals and align activities with other treatment disciplines.
• Conduct therapeutic recreation sessions, provide instruction and support, and recommend program adjustments.
• Review inmate participation, document progress, and prepare reports and notations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and offer recommendations to support individualized treatment plans.
