Job summary

Wasatch Behavioral Health is seeking a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS) to support individuals across residential, crisis, and outpatient settings. The role emphasizes assessments, individualized treatment planning, and collaborative care within a multidisciplinary team.

You will lead engaging recreation activities, document progress in the EHR, and adapt interventions to client needs while maintaining a safe and inclusive environment. A TRS license in Utah is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Therapy, or an approved related field.
• Completion of an approved practicum.
• Current Utah Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (TRS) license.
• Knowledge of recreational therapy principles and the APIE(D) process.
• Understanding of behavioral health conditions and adaptive therapeutic interventions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct therapeutic recreation assessments and identify client strengths, needs, and treatment goals.
• Develop and implement individualized recreation therapy treatment plans.
• Facilitate engaging therapeutic recreation activities in both group and individual settings.
• Document services, client progress, and interventions accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Evaluate client progress and adjust therapeutic interventions as needed.
• Collaborate with therapists, case managers, medical providers, and other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
• Provide therapeutic recreation services across residential, crisis, and outpatient settings.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and therapeutic environment while following ethical and professional standards.
• Supervise TRTs, interns, or other TRSs as assigned.
• Travel to agency clinics and treatment facilities as needed.
