Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

To assist the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in planning and implementation of recreational activities and programmatic events for the children in the Children’s Center.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and promotes Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures.

  • Make decisions as a team to fulfill our mission, share recognition, and learn from failures.
  • Treat every resident, family member, and co-worker with dignity, respect, and courtesy.
  • Complete daily session attendance/statistics in the EMR.
  • Assist in decorating the facility for holidays and events.
  • Assist in selection, planning, and implementation of special events.
  • Maintain supplies in an orderly manner. Assist in selection and ordering of supplies.
  • Attend all pertinent educational in-services and neighborhood team meetings.
  • Assist CTRS with the implementation of individual and group activities.
  • Provide individual activities as assigned by neighborhood CTRS.
  • Keep neighborhood CTRS informed on all resident participation and response to individual and group activities.
  • Maintain and be able to have a flexible schedule.
  • Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by the neighborhood CTRS, Chief Rehabilitation Officer, and/or Vice President of Operations.
Qualifications

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma; Associate degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Health Related Field preferred.
Experience
  • 2 years of related experience; experience with pediatric population preferred.

Employee Requirements:

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language fluently.
  • Must meet or exceed all health standards and requirements for the position as established by NYDOH and all other regulatory agencies.
  • Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this Center which includes a medical and physical examination.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
  • Perform tasks that may involve exposure to the resident’s blood/body fluids.
  • Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents, if necessary.

Working Conditions:

  • Will work in a well-lighted and ventilated area.
  • Will be subject to frequent interruptions.
  • May be asked to work beyond normal working hours, and in other positions temporarily, when necessary.

Salary Range:

$24.44/Hr. to $26.47/Hr.
