Position Summary
To assist the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in planning and implementation of recreational activities and programmatic events for the children in the Children’s Center.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Understand and promote Elizabeth Seton Children’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure application with organizational policies and procedures.
- Strive to improve the organization’s systems and services.
- Collaborate with team members to fulfill our mission, share recognition, and learn from failures.
- Treat every resident, family member, and co-worker with dignity, respect, and courtesy.
- Complete daily session attendance/statistics in the EMR.
- Assist in decorating the facility for holidays and events.
- Assist in planning and implementing special events.
- Maintain supplies in an organized manner and assist in their selection and ordering.
- Attend all relevant educational in-services and team meetings.
- Assist CTRS with individual and group activities.
- Provide individual activities as assigned by neighborhood CTRS.
- Keep the neighborhood CTRS informed about resident participation and responses to activities.
- Maintain a flexible schedule.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the CTRS, Chief Rehabilitation Officer, or Vice President of Operations.
Qualifications
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma; Associate degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Health-Related Field preferred.
Experience
- At least 2 years of related experience; pediatric experience preferred.
Employee Requirements
- Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Meet health standards as per NYDOH and other regulatory agencies.
- Meet general health requirements, including a medical and physical exam.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to handle tasks involving exposure to blood or body fluids.
- Assist in resident evacuation if necessary.
Working Conditions
- Work in a well-lit, ventilated area.
- Subject to interruptions.
- May require working beyond normal hours or in different roles temporarily.
Salary Range
$24.44/Hr. to $26.47/Hr.
