Job summary

Brightwell Behavioral Health is seeking an Activities Assistant to support Activity Therapy services under the Rec Therapy Director. You will help facilitate therapeutic activity groups and interventions aimed at improving cognitive, social, emotional, and physical functioning, reinforcing coping skills and encouraging social interaction.

Qualifications

• Experience in psychiatric setting (preferred)
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; additional languages preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists with facilitating therapy activity groups under the Rec Therapy Director.
• Monitors client participation and reports observations to the team.
• Develops clinical skills by observing client functioning during AT sessions.
• Participates in treatment team conferences to support planning.
• Documents observations on the Master Treatment Plan and discharge docs.
• Implements components of treatment plans with an interdisciplinary team.
• Contributes to new activity-based programming in response to trends.
• Instructs clients on safe use of equipment during AT sessions.
• Follows patient safety protocols and completes safety checks.
• Attends trainings to stay current with best practices in recreation therapy.
• Supports de-escalation strategies with the treatment team.
• Observes safety concerns related to perceptual disturbances to clinical staff.
• May complete Recreational Therapy assessments with CTRS review.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
