Job summary

Blue Kite Wellness is hiring a Therapeutic Mentor and Family Peer Support (TM/FPS) to assist children, youth, and families in the Cicero area with in-home and community sessions, including telehealth. This full-time role blends field travel with home-based care to build skills and safety plans.

The ideal candidate brings lived experience or caregiver experience, a high school diploma, strong communication, and the ability to work independently with supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Meets the qualifications of a Rehabilitative Services Associate as defined by Illinois requirements.
• Lived experience and/or experience as a caregiver of a child with special needs.
• Experience navigating child-serving systems and supporting families involved with those systems.
• Ability to use lived experience thoughtfully while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Ability to build rapport with youth and caregivers and support family voice and choice.
• Strong communication, organization, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently in home and community settings with supervision and feedback.
• Willingness to complete training and ongoing coaching for Illinois Pathways Therapeutic Mentor and Family Peer Support.

Responsibilities

• Provide Therapeutic Mentoring and Family Peer Support services to eligible youth and families per service plans.
• Work one-on-one with youth to practice communication, emotional regulation, problem-solving, and social skills.
• Use lived or caregiver experience to build trust and reduce isolation.
• Help caregivers strengthen coping skills, parenting strategies, and connections to supports.
• Navigate behavioral health, education, healthcare, child welfare, and related systems with families.
• Maintain appropriate boundaries and document services and outcomes.
• Collaborate with caregivers, multidisciplinary teams, and supervisors.
• Complete timely documentation and participate in supervision, meetings, and required training.
• Maintain a reliable schedule and adhere to confidentiality and safety procedures.
