Job summary

Northeast Family Services is seeking a Therapeutic Mentor to provide positive role modeling for children and youth in home and community settings. You will support skill-building in social interaction, behavior regulation, and problem-solving, applying training across multiple environments.

We offer flexibility with 4- or 5-day schedules, bilingual opportunities, and competitive pay. Full-time or fee-for-service hours are available, with summer-Friday short days and strong team support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field is required.
• Associate’s degree in a Human Services field with at least 1 year of experience with children, youth and families.
• High School diploma or GED with at least 2 years of experience with children, youth and families.
• Must be 21+ years old per state CBHI program rule.
• Experience with children diagnosed with behavioral-emotional disorders or ASD.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a car.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship not available.
• Access to laptop/CPS and high-speed internet for FT and remote duties.

Responsibilities

• Provide positive role modeling for children and youth in home, community centers, after-school programs, or other locations.
• Help children learn and apply age-appropriate social, behavioral, and problem-solving skills.
• Support families by promoting consistent positive interactions and skill practice.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field

Associate’s degree in a Human Services field with 1 year experience

High School diploma or equivalent (GED) with 2 years experience with children, youth and families

Ready for a summer schedule that works for you? Summer Fun Fridays at Northeast Family Services! We close at 12:30pm every Friday from Memorial Day through Labor Day — giving our team more time to relax, recharge, and enjoy the summer sunshine!

The Therapeutic Mentor (TM) provides positive role modeling for children and youth who have challenges in areas including social skills, behavioral control, problem solving and conflict resolution. Mentors assist children and youth to identify and capitalize on their existing strengths to learn, practice, and perform new positive, age-appropriate ways of interacting with peers and adults. You will assist the children and youth to put these new skills into practice within and outside the home in order to incorporate them into their daily lives. Therapeutic Mentoring services are provided wherever the child or youth requires them, including home, community centers, after-school programs, or any other location where the child or youth encounters difficulties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field


• Associate’s degree in a Human Services field with a minimum of one year of experience working with children, youth and families


• High School diploma or equivalent (GED) with a minimum of two years of experience working with children, youth and families


• Must be 21 years or older per state of Massachusetts CBHI program: Required


• Experience working with children diagnosed with behavioral-emotional disorders or children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)


• Valid driver’s license with reliable and consistent access to a car


• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time


• Access to a laptop or CPS, high speed secure internet, and a phone required for FFS positions


• Access to high speed secure internet required for Full Time positions

Compensation

• Full-Time: Salary $42,000 to $52,000


• Fee-for-Service: $25 to $40 per hour


• Incentive Rate $40/hour over productivity
