Job summary

Encompass Health is seeking a Nutrition Services Clerk to support patient meal preparation and service. You will prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients, and assemble meals for employees, visitors, and special events.

The role includes assisting with diet orders, updating records, collecting patient preferences, and ensuring trays meet diet specifications. Attention to detail for accuracy, timing, and hygiene is essential.

Qualifications

• Possession of a food handler’s permit, if mandated by state or county regulations.
• Minimum one-year experience as a Diet Clerk/Nutrition Services Clerk in an acute care facility preferred.

Responsibilities

• Distribute and collect menus, assist patients with diet orders, and process menus.
• Update patient kardex with diet changes; document nourishments as ordered.
• Visit patients to gather food preferences, allergies, and document nutritional history.
• Complete production sheets and document all special food requests.
• Check patient tray lines to ensure each meal is accurate to diet, patient request, and garnishing.
• Prepare and check early trays; assure that food carts leave the kitchen at scheduled times.
• Perform cleaning duties.
