Job summary

Encompass Health in Texarkana, TX is seeking a Nutrition Services Aide to help prepare therapeutic and modified diets and to craft meals for patients, staff, and visitors. You will follow recipes, manage trays, and ensure correct portions and timing.

The role emphasizes food safety, teamwork with the dietary staff, and delivering compassionate service in a hospital setting. Eligible candidates should have a food handler's permit where required and a willingness to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have food handler permit where mandated by state or county regulations.
• Experience in preparing therapeutic diets preferred.
• Recent institutional cooking experience preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety guidelines preferred.
• May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or nights if needed.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper temperature for hot and cold foods.
• Interpret recipes and follow written/verbal orders.
• Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
• Assemble, deliver and manage patient trays, supplements and nourishments.
• Portion, weigh and garnish food according to menus/diet instructions.
• Assemble patient trays to meet deadlines.
• Assist patients in completing menus.
• Clean and sanitize all assigned areas.
• Organize, plan and manage time effectively to complete assignments.
