Job Description
Tree of Life Family Services LLC provides behavioral health services to children and families throughout Northern Virginia. We value compassion, professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
We are seeking compassionate, dependable, and motivated Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) Counselors to join our growing school-based team in Loudoun County.
TDT Counselors work directly with children and adolescents who need additional emotional, behavioral, or mental health support within the school environment. Counselors help students strengthen coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, social skills, problem-solving, and overall school functioning.
Candidates must hold the appropriate Virginia registration required to provide TDT services.
We are seeking candidates with an active QMHP or QMHP-Trainee (QMHP-T) registration.
Candidates who may qualify for QMHP-T may be considered during the initial screening process while pursuing registration. However, the required active credential must be received and verified by Tree of Life before a final employment offer for the TDT Counselor position is issued. A pending application or receipt does not constitute credential approval.
Counselors are assigned to schools and student caseloads based on referrals, authorizations, staffing, student needs, and program operations. School assignments, caseloads, schedules, and available hours may change based on program and student needs.
Consistency matters. Counselors are expected to arrive on time, maintain reliable attendance, remain actively engaged with assigned students, complete documentation, and communicate promptly regarding absences or scheduling concerns.
TDT primarily follows the school calendar , with counselors generally working Monday through Friday during school hours.
School holidays, breaks, weather closures, and other periods when students are unavailable may affect scheduled hours.
Summer TDT opportunities may be available based on student participation, authorizations, staffing, and program needs. Summer schedules and assignments may differ from the regular school year.
We provide TDT-specific orientation and training, ongoing supervision and case consultation, professional development, and opportunities to strengthen clinical, documentation, family engagement, and care coordination skills. Additional growth opportunities may be available based on qualifications, performance, experience, and program needs.
Employment: Full-Time or Part-Time, W-2
Location: Loudoun County Public Schools
Schedule: Monday through Friday, primarily during school hours
