Qualifications

  • Associate in arts in early childhood education preferred.
  • MERIT account and initial STARS training completed.
  • Have a minimum of an ECE initial certificate or equivalent as approved and verified in the electronic workforce registry by the department within five years of August 1, 2019, or from being employed or promoted to this position.
  • Willingness and ability to act as lead teacher for up to 2 weeks at any point in employment.
  • Paid experience teaching children ages birth-5 ;
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification;
  • Ability to continuously stand or walk;
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds ;
  • Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

Responsibilities

  • Maintain current understanding of Washington State Administrative Codes (WACs) and Revised Codes of Washington (RCWs) and federal regulations pertaining to chemical dependency treatment, early childhood education, and the management of personal health information

MAJOR DUTIES: The Assistant Therapeutic Childcare Teacher works under the supervision of the Childcare Supervisor. The individual assists the lead teacher or licensee in providing instructional support to children and implement developmentally appropriate programs in the childcare programs. Activities include assessing, monitoring and planning for children’s developmental growth; providing predictability and stability in schedule, routine and interpersonal interactions; modeling appropriate interactions with children and communicating with families, the Childcare Supervisor, and other staff as necessary. This position does not provide clinical services to agency patients. In providing these services, the incumbent performs the following duties independently:
