AGENCY BACKGROUND:

MercyFirst is a not-for-profit human and social service agency that has been serving children and families in need since we were founded by the Sisters of Mercy/Hermanas de las Misericordia in 1894. Today our agency continues to address the emotional and physical needs of children and families in Brooklyn, Queens and across Long Island through innovative treatments and life-changing interventions.

PROGRAM BACKGROUND:

MercyFirst’s A Safe Way Forward Program (SWF) provides child welfare involved families affected by intimate partner violence (IPV) with comprehensive prevention services including therapeutic case management and evidence-based intervention modalities to address IPV.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Therapeutic Case Management Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision, coaching and support to a SWF case management team focused on assessment, engagement, safety planning and coordination of services and treatment for members of the family system experiencing IPV.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Team management of the programmatic systems related to the provision of care and services for youth and families referred to SWF program in accordance with all applicable standards.
  • Direct supervision of 4 SWF Therapeutic Case Managers and 1 Family Engagement Specialist.
  • Coordination of weekly rounds with Clinical Services Team.
  • Guide and support the development of individual and family Safety Plans.
  • Promote the active participation of family members at Family Team Conferences (FTC).
  • Responsible for the review, approval, and monitoring of Family Assessments and Service Plans (FASPs).
  • Oversee and support the implementation of evidence-based models of practice and treatment.
  • Establish and sustain a respectful workplace environment.
  • Maintain compliance tracking and performance management systems.
  • Availability to conduct Home/Field visits and assist with 24-hour on-call support.
  • Collaborate with other community-based service providers.
  • Interview, recommend for hire, train, assign duties, schedule work hours, and evaluate job performances of staff.
  • Work in partnership with the Sr. Director to develop strategies that promote growth and change within the program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • New York State Licensed Master of Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) Required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience in child welfare administration or program management Required.
  • Prior experience working with families affected by IPV Required.
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and a commitment to anti-racism work.
  • Strong Organizational, Supervision, Communication and Analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and training in working with children & families.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to child welfare best practice standards.
  • Understanding and willingness to commit to the agency’s mission and core values.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule and to be on call for emergencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

SALARY RANGE:

$72,000 - $74,000 Per Year
Hiring Incentive of $1,000 after 500 worked hours.
