Job summary

House of Ruth is seeking an Assistant Teacher for its Kidspace Child Development Center in Washington, DC. The role reports to the Director or Assistant Director and offers an hourly pay range of $23.43–$25.42, with annualized pay between $48,736 and $52,880.

The position emphasizes a nurturing, therapeutic environment and collaboration with families, with eligibility for potential supplements through the Early Childhood Educator Pay Equity Fund.

Qualifications

• CDA in Infants and Toddlers or associates degree in early childhood required.
• One to two years’ experience in a child development center.
• Pre-employment checks including FBI background, alcohol/drug test, TB test, police clearance and full vaccination.

Responsibilities

• Plans and teaches an age-appropriate curriculum for young children.
• Provides a nurturing and therapeutic environment promoting growth and helps parents understand development.
• Maintains a safe, organized, clean and stimulating classroom environment.
• Conducts parent conferences and regular progress communication.
• Assists in completing developmental assessments and maintaining child files.
