The University of Chicago invites applications for a Staff Scientist to lead the discovery and engineering of functional antibodies for therapeutic applications. This is a hands-on, project-leading role based in Chicago, with opportunity for independent direction and first-author publications.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD and 2–5 years of related experience, with proven expertise in antibody discovery, mammalian expression, and multi-plex assays.

Qualifications

• PhD in a related field with 2–5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with display-based selection (phage, yeast, mammalian).
• Proficiency in mammalian cell culture and recombinant protein methods.
• Experience with flow cytometry and fluorescence imaging.
• Peer-reviewed publications and in vivo study experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and expand functional antibody–receptor maps across tumor contexts.
• Design biparatopic and bispecific antibodies for improved activity.
• Develop control of engineered antibody activity and reduce off-tumor effects.
• Construct expression systems, cell lines, and receptor panels.
• Run display-based selections and cell-based potency assays.
• Evaluate safety and efficacy with in vitro and in vivo studies.
• Maintain platform infrastructure and data records.
• Provide training and contribute to manuscripts and grants.
