Job summary

Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, seeks an experienced Activity Therapist to lead and supervise recreational therapy services within a hospital setting. The role plans and coordinates medically approved activity programs for assigned areas, collaborates with treatment teams, documents progress, and ensures patient-centered care across multiple disciplines.

A Bachelor's Degree with required therapy credits is essential, with several years of full-time

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with eighteen (18) credits in recreation, physical education, dance, fine arts, and/or applied arts (including therapy).
• Twelve (12) semester credits in psychology, social psychology, group work, or related discipline, and three (3) years of full-time experience in planning, coordinating and supervising a recreation activities program in a health care setting; or
• A satisfactory combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to 1 or 2 above, but all candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, supervises and implements Activity Program Services of clinically sound activity therapy treatments from an assigned area of a hospital or health care facility.
• Coordinates and monitors ongoing performance of overall or specific portions of the treatment plans.
• Provides leadership, guidance and clinical supervision to subordinate professional recreational therapy staff, volunteers and students.
